James & Yolanda 8/14/2010

James & Yolanda 8/14/2010
Detroit, MI

I met Yolanda 5 years ago when I photographed her cousin’s wedding, and I had no idea that I would be photographing her wedding. It was one of the most emotional weddings of the year. There were tears all over the place and one of the highlights had to be when James retrieved the garter. I had a ball and I hope they are still my clients 5 years from now.

Kahn and Latasha 11/8/2006

Today – I am caught up in nostalgia. My wedding anniversary (and my wife’s birthday) is in 1 month and 2 days and this time last year I was putting together her surprise b-day party.
The day went so perfect. I had arranged for a limo to come and pick us up from my house at 11 am Sunday November 8th so we could have brunch at Seldom Blues (a restaurant in downtown Detroit that is now closed). She was soooooooo surprised to see the limo. My mother-n-law came over the watch the kids while we were gone. The driver was great as well, he even took the kids for a ride around the neighborhood before me and my wife left.
While we were at the restaurant for brunch, several of our friends and family were making their way over our house for the party. I had to sneak to the bathroom a few times and text people to make sure things were going as planned. We left brunch and walked along the Riverfront, holding hands, and being in love . The limo returned to pick us up and take us back to our home. I was soooo nervous. I knew she didn’t know exactly what was going on but I knew she had been trying to find out. Once we turned on our street, she started to recognize some of the cars parked around and she started smiling. We walked in, everyone jumped out “Surprise!!” It made me feel great to do something that special for my wife. I love her so much. I really do. We ate, played games and enjoyed the day.
Now: November 8th is looming again. How can I top last year? I’m not even sure if I should try. But whatever I do, my wife will always know that I love her more than anything in this world.

Raquel and Mike’s Engagement session

Engagement sessions can be like wedding days sometimes- they just won’t go the way you want them too.

Raquel and Mike planned to have a late evening engagement session at Detroit’s Riverwalk. But we did realize that the Riverwalk closed at 9:45. So we decided to just having out downtown Detroit a little bit, ride the People Mover, and just basically make lemonade out of lemons!!

New Logo

Ok, this is at least my 100th logo in 7 years. As of right now? I like this one. But i’m sure in a few month- I’ll hate it. LOL

Stolen Moments

Stolen Moments

Both of them were up past their bed-times. I quickly grabbed my camera, waited, waited, waited -then click. They turned but it was too late. They thought they were in trouble, but they weren’t. I went in their room and kissed them good night.

I love my daughters and I live for moments like that

Timeka’s Maternity Session

Timeka’s maternity session

This year has been busy with maternity sessions. I’ve done more this year than I’ve done the past 4 years combined. The beauty is that every session is so different, every expecting mom is so unique. Timeka was no different

Brittany and Gene’s Engagement Session

Brittany and Gene’s engagement session
Chicago, IL

Brittany & Gene live in Chicago but Brittany was born in Detroit (where the wedding will be) and Gene is from Chicago. They decided it would be a good idea for me to come to Chicago to shoot their engagement session. I had a blast. I think the highlight was going to Solider Field (where the Bears play football at) since Gene is as passionate about is Bears and I am my Lions! I can’t wait for their wedding next spring

Kahn and Latasha

Sometimes it’s the small things that will get your day off to a great start. I’m not sure how long this has been there but it put a smile on my face when I saw it. We have a blackboard in our basement and I stumbled on this while preparing for my day. I really, really love my wife.

Tanisha & Jule 6/12/2010

Tanisha & Jule 6/12/2010

Ceremony – Greater Norwest Church of God In Christ- Detroit, MI
Reception -Regency Manor – Southfield, MI

I love it when brides aren’t afraid to be little different and that’s how I felt when I saw Tanisha. The hairstyle, dress, and head-piece had a bit of old school glamour and flare that I don’t see quite that much. Throw in the Benz and this couple had a lot of swagger to match the emotions and love that was present through the day.

Haili & Landon’s Engagement Session

Haili & Landon
Heritage Park-Taylor, MI

The best part about engagement sessions is that it makes you look forward to the wedding and that’s exactly how I felt after photography Haili & Landon’s engagement session. They were fun, silly, and lovable. Even though they don’t get married until next year – I already know that its going to be one remarkable day!!
